FAQ

Where are you located?

You can find our family butcher shop and retail storefront at 405 US Highway 63, Queen City, MO 63561 — right in the heart of northeast Missouri.

Is Ruth Family Farms beef a product of the USA?

Yes! Our beef is proudly born, raised, and harvested right here in the USA — on our Missouri family farm.

Is it safe to buy beef online?

Absolutely. When you order from Ruth Family Farms, you’re ordering from a source you can trust. We carefully pack every order with dry ice and insulation to ensure your beef stays frozen and safe during transit.
If it arrives frozen, place it in the freezer or defrost in the fridge. If it's thawed but still under 40°F, it’s safe to refrigerate or refreeze. If your beef arrives above 40°F, reach out to our Customer Care team right away.

Can I refreeze beef?

If the beef is still cold and only slightly thawed, yes — it’s safe to refreeze. However, refreezing fully thawed beef may affect flavor and moisture slightly.

What temperature should ground beef be cooked to?

Always cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F for safety.

Is your beef shipped frozen or fresh?

We ship our beef frozen, packed with just the right amount of dry ice to keep it cold from our farm to your front door.

Can I update my shipping address after placing an order?

Please double-check your address before submitting your order. Once placed, we’re not able to make changes to the shipping address.

What if I need to ship to multiple addresses?

You’ll need to place a separate order for each shipping address. If you're shipping to 10 or more locations, our team would be happy to help — just reach out to Customer Care for assistance and a shipping quote.

Will my beef arrive completely frozen?

Yes, that’s our goal! Even if the dry ice has evaporated, your beef should still be frozen or very cold to the touch. If it arrives above 40°F, contact our Customer Care team.

What should I do if my package was stolen?

If your order was stolen after delivery: File a police report, share any security footage (if available), contact UPS to report the issue, reach out to your credit card provider for reimbursement, or contact our Customer Care team — we’ll do our best to support you.

Do I need to be home when my order is delivered?

Nope! UPS will leave the package at your door if no one is home. If you're shipping to a business or apartment, the driver may use their discretion.

What makes Ruth Family Farms beef different from grocery store beef?

We raise our cattle with intention, care, and transparency — all on our own farm. From the feed we grow to the way we finish and harvest, every step is handled by our family. That means no shortcuts, no stress, and no surprises. Just tender, richly marbled USDA Prime and Choice beef that melts in your mouth.

Where is the beef processed?

Our beef is processed by our family at our own butcher shop, located just 20 miles from our farm: 405 US Highway 63, Queen City, MO 63561.

How long will the beef stay fresh? How long can I freeze it?

Our beef stays fresh in the freezer for up to 6 months. Once thawed, we recommend consuming it within 14 days for the best quality and flavor.

HOW TO COOK OUR STEAKS

1. Keep it simple.

Great steak doesn’t need much. A generous sprinkle of salt and freshly cracked pepper is all it takes. Sear it in beef tallow to enhance the natural richness of the meat — no need to mask that incredible flavor. And for added tenderness make sure your meat is room temperature before cooking.

2. Get your pan or grill hot.

Whether you’re using cast iron or firing up the grill, make sure it’s screaming hot before the steak hits it. This locks in the juices and gives you that crave-worthy crust. If you hear a strong sizzle, you’re doing it right.

3. Let it rest.

After cooking, let your steak rest for at least 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, so every bite is tender and full of flavor. Cutting too soon leaves the goodness on the plate — not in the meat.
